With 4 tasting tooms right in town and 2 wineries just a mile outside of town, what could be better or easier? The Jacksonville Wineries Association makes it so you can easily do all 6 in one day or spread them over a couple of days. The three tasting rooms in town all present different perspectives on wine. Find a planned itinerary below as well as links to area wineries for more information.
Discover a Variety of Great Wine & Food!
Start your afternoon with a great lunch at C Street Bistro. Chef Paul Becking has created a wonderfully intimate spot near the corner of C & 5th Streets. The combinations of flavors have a complex layering that is sure to please.
Then head around the corner to Quady North at the corner of 5th & California Sts. Herb Quady is committed to small lot, minimally handled wines that reflect the diverse cool-climate vineyards of the State of Jefferson and are expressions of the climate, soils and people who farm them. You may have heard the name Quady from northern California. Those are Herb’s parents!
Just across the street is the newest addition to this itinerary is Awen Winecraft, with a tasting room in the McCully House Inn. Awen produces a limited run of boutique wines designed to reflect the beauty and bounty of Southern Oregon.
Then head down California Street 2 blocks to and turn left on on 3rd Street. South Stage Cellars is a vineyard-based tasting toom and wine garden that features South Stage Cellars estate label as well as many other wines made exclusively from Quail Run Vineyards’ fruit by other Oregon winemakers. It is a great opportunity to see how the same fruit can be used by different wine makers.
They have a nice selection of food offerings and Wednesday Wine & Dine by reservation. Live music is on tap Wednesday, Friday and most Saturday evenings, so check with them in advance and you may want to make this your last stop of the day.
Jacksonville Inn Wine Shop, also on California Street, has been recognized with the “Best of Award of Excellence” from Wine Enthusiast magazine. The shop carries over 3,000 vintages! Check in there to find their wine tasting schedule.
This may be a full day, and you are at the right spot for dinner. Jacksonville Inn Dinner House is a local main-stay and offers refined Pacific Northwest cuisine. The Inn also has guest rooms making it one of the most centrally located lodging accommodations in town.
The route to Daisy Creek Vineyard takes you through one of Jacksonville’s newer residential neighborhoods. They focus on growing Syrah and Viognier grapes as their vineyard correlates with the Northern Rhone Valley and the famous Côte Rotie or “Roasted Slope”.
A mile east on Old Stage Road you will find Rellik Winery. The tasting room is open Thursday through Monday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Offering selections of red and white wines for $5.00/tasting flights.
While you’re here visit with their family of alpacas which roam the 200+ fruit tree orchards and can often be spotted right from the tasting room.
The final stop is a winery that has been winning multiple awards and accolades. A mile south on South Stage Road takes you to DANCIN Vineyards, a collection of three distinctively unique micro-vineyards of Pinot noir and Chardonnay located above the forested foothills.
Dan & Cindy did things right – first focusing on making incredible, award winning wine. Then creating a tasting room experience. Chicken coops frame a lawn area, while the koi pond is surrounded by sophisticated landscaping. All of this creates a lovely framework to enjoy stunning views.
Great patio areas and tasting room, and great food, too! Don’t miss the stuffed mushrooms or their oven-fired pizzas. They even do a macaroni and cheese pizza!
