The Coziness of Winter
Enjoy the Winter Holidays and the Tranquility of Winter.
Visit Jacksonville in the winter—Beginning with the weekend following Thanksgiving, Jacksonville transforms its historic downtown into a Victorian wonderland—a picture of its former glory come to life for the holidays. Businesses are draped in greenery and lights, Father Christmas sets up shop in the historic Beekman Bank, and our Holly Jolly Trolley chauffeurs visitors to the town’s highlights with historic narrative tours. Visitors come from all around to experience a genuine, small-town, old-fashioned Christmas tree lighting with carol singing. The following weekend hosts a Christmas parade down the main drag. Shopkeepers open their doors to offer a diverse selection of quality goods for selecting the perfect Christmas gifts. The Jacksonville Holiday Lights Tour is sure to be a delight, riding one of our festive trolleys, sipping hot chocolate, touring our beautiful neighborhoods and downtown.
After the excitement of Victorian Christmas, enjoy the peace and privacy Jacksonville affords during winter. Temperatures are mild. Snow is never far away for enjoying winter sports, though Jacksonville may receive an occasional dusting. A self-guided historical walking tour may be in order, without the crowds. Winter is also perfect for a quiet hike in the surrounding Jacksonville Woodlands. Book a solitary getaway in one of many historical inns and bed and breakfasts.
