The Rogue Valley Lions Club
The Rogue Valley Lions Club, formerly the Jacksonville Lions Club founded in 1948, is a chapter of Lions Clubs International, the largest service club organization in the world with more than 1.4 million members, men and women, in more than 46,000 clubs worldwide! In order to better serve more of our Valley, including Jacksonville, Central Point and Medford, we have taken our new name.
We support a number of sight and hearing organizations, such as the Southern Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Center. We sponsor local educational endeavors, including art contests, spelling bees, American Flag education, the annual Jacksonville Elementary School production at the Britt Festival and a college scholarship. Other projects include collecting stuffed toys for Jacksonville and Central Point first responders to give to children in distressful situations and doing an Adopt-a-Road cleanup twice a year. We assemble and deliver over 50 Christmas food baskets/bags to shut-ins every year through ‘Food & Friends’. We raise funds through various activities and events, we do table rentals (1 to 100 available) for gatherings of any size, and we host our twice-a-year Wine Walk in historic downtown Central Point. Details on any of these available services are available from the contacts below.
Men and women of all ages are welcome. One merely needs a desire to have fun while doing good things in a no-pressure group of great folks. Membership fees are small, and our meetings combine camaraderie and dinner (always a good combination). We currently meet first and third Wednesdays at Shari’s Restaurant in Central Point. Dinner is on us for anyone interested in coming to get acquainted with us and get an idea of what we are about.
